Surrey County Council (SCC) is investing £6.25 million in redeveloping Chobham and Lingfield Fire Stations and they’re asking local residents to have their say on proposals.

The proposals will enable improved health and safety for crews, new gym facilities for crews, a community space to enable engagements with residents and a second fire and rescue vehicle bay, to better serve communities.

Local residents are being invited to the stations to hear more about the investments and ask questions on:

  • Wednesday 1 February 4pm-8pm at Chobham Fire Station
  • Thursday 2 February 4pm-8pm at Lingfield Fire Station

SCC’s Cabinet Member for Communities and Community Protection, Denise Turner Stewart, said: “It’s fantastic to be able to invest in our fire stations and I’m so thankful to all teams and the local crews who have been involved in preparing these proposals. I would strongly encourage Chobham and Lingfield residents to take part and give their feedback so we can make sure our plans are on the right track – this is after all, a community fire station.”

SCC’s Cabinet Member for Property and Waste, Natalie Bramhall, also added: “Teams have worked incredibly hard on designing fire stations that can sit at the centre of the community, whilst being a fit for the future workplace for our fire and rescue service. Please take a few minutes to have your say.”

Chief Fire Officer of Surrey Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS), Dan Quin, said: “The current fire stations at both Chobham and Lingfield have served crews and communities well, but it’s now time to improve upon the facilities available and thanks to investment from Surrey County Council, we are now able to do this.”

The aim is to begin construction in October 2023 and completion in October 2024.

The consultations are open from 1 February 2023 until 15 February 2023. Visit www.surreysays.co.uk/sfrs/chobhamfirestation and/or www.surreysays.co.uk/sfrs/lingfieldfirestation to find out more and have your say.
