Surrey County Council has unanimously re-elected Tim Oliver to serve a further term as Leader at a Full Council Meeting today.

Tim Oliver has served as Council Leader since December 2018 and has worked hard tirelessly to transform Surrey’s services and finances for the benefit of residents.

Tim Oliver, Leader of Surrey County Council, said: “I thank the Council for electing me to serve a further term as Leader. It’s a great privilege to be elected to serve my community and even more so to lead this Council. It is a role that I take very seriously and one in which I hope I can continue to help build on the real progress we have made in transforming this Council.”

The Leader added: “There’s still much to do but I am confident that we will continue to work hard over the next four years, making Surrey a county of equal opportunity and to ensure that no one in this county is left behind.”

The Council Leader has successfully led on; coordinating the Surrey-wide response to COVID-19, got Surrey’s finances in order and delivering £200m of savings since 2018, established £100m Your Fund Surrey for community projects and committed to facilitate the planting of 1.2 million new trees by 2030.

The Council also elected Becky Rush as the Deputy Leader of Surrey County Council, Helyn Clack as the new Council Chairman and Saj Hussain as the new Council Vice-Chairman.
