The Your Fund Surrey Small Community Projects funding has launched.

Since its launch in 2020 Your Fund Surrey has awarded £5.5million to community projects across Surrey including sports pavilions, a community shop and café, village halls and a disability playground. The Your Fund Surrey Small Community Projects funding has been set up in recognition of the role smaller community projects can play in their neighbourhoods.

The funding is available for one off simple projects worth between £1k and £50k to support capital community projects. Each Surrey County Councillor has been given £50k Small Community Project funding to allocate in their areas. This is in addition to the Members Community Allocation fund now known as the County Councillors Community Allocation.

Denise Turner Stewart, Cabinet Member for Communities and Community Safety said: “We recognised that to empower communities even further to make a difference we needed to make access for smaller community projects funding easier. That’s why we’ve allocated £50k from the Your Fund Surrey to every Surrey County Councillor.  This ensures that smaller community projects can be funded and that every neighbourhood across Surrey has greater access to funding.  We are committed to supporting thriving communities and ensuring that No One Is Left Behind and making access to funding easier is one of the ways we are delivering on this.  We look forward to seeing the ideas from our communities for projects that will make a difference to their local towns, villages and neighbourhoods and I encourage residents to talk to their County Councillor about this fund.”

The Your Fund Surrey Large Community Project funding is still available for funding of larger capital projects in excess of £10k, and is subject to a staged application process. As well as other community funding opportunities within Surrey. Information for all these funding opportunities can be found on the Your Fund Surrey website: https://www.surreycc.gov.uk/community/voluntary-community-and-faith-sector/funding/community-projects-fund.
